Palm Springs Young Playwrights Festival Opens Submissions for Ninth Season, Inviting Valley Students to Share Their Stories
The Palm Springs Young Playwrights Festival is now accepting submissions for its ninth season, giving elementary, middle, and high school students across the Coachella Valley and Riverside County a chance to turn their creative ideas into original stage works.
The annual festival encourages young writers to explore storytelling through playwriting, with selected participants earning the opportunity to work side by side with industry professionals.
This year’s professional mentor is Greg White, who will help winning students develop their script entries. Festival organizers say White will guide participants through the creative process, offering insight into structure, character development, and bringing stories to life.
Students whose scripts are selected will receive more than mentorship. Winners will also earn a scholarship to support their creative arts journey and see their work presented in a public stage reading performed by a cast of professional actors.
Organizers say the program is designed to build confidence, sharpen writing skills, and introduce young people to real-world creative careers — all while celebrating student voices from across the region.
The festival is open to elementary, middle, and high school students throughout the Valley and Riverside County. More information, including submission guidelines and deadlines, is available at PSYPF.com.
