Patriots Superfan Attends His 60th and Final Super Bowl
For most football fans, attending the Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For Don Crisman of Kennebunk, Maine, it’s been a tradition spanning nearly six decades.
Crisman is attending Super Bowl LX, marking his 60th consecutive Super Bowl — a streak that began with the very first game in Los Angeles in 1967, when Green Bay defeated Kansas City. Now approaching his 90th birthday, Crisman says this year’s game will be his last.
He is part of a rare group of fans who managed to attend every Super Bowl, though that original group of six friends has now dwindled to just three. Crisman says health concerns and rising costs played a role in his decision to step away.
Originally planning to end his streak after Super Bowl XXX, Crisman kept going when the Patriots made another appearance — and continued for nearly three more decades. This year’s return to the Super Bowl came as a surprise to him, especially after New England struggled in recent seasons.
Crisman says it’s been an unforgettable journey, but believes it’s time to pass the torch.
He’ll watch as the Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
