Cheech Marin Brings Palm Springs Speaks to Plaza Theatre for One-Night Event Supporting Local Library
A cultural icon is headed to the desert.
Actor, comedian, author, and art collector Cheech Marin will take the stage Tuesday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. as part of Palm Springs Speaks at the historic Palm Springs Plaza Theatre. NBC Palm Springs’ Manny the Movie Guy will host the evening, which benefits the Friends of the Palm Springs Public Library.
Marin rose to fame in the 1970s as one half of the legendary comedy duo Cheech & Chong, known for their counterculture humor and stoner-comedy classics. Since then, he has built a wide-ranging career that includes television, film, writing, and visual arts.
Beyond comedy, Marin is an established author with multiple books to his name, including a personal memoir, children’s titles, and volumes documenting his extensive Chicano art collection. That passion for the arts is showcased at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in Riverside, which houses more than 700 works ranging from paintings and drawings to sculptures.
Marin says libraries have played an important role throughout his life, making this Palm Springs Speaks event especially meaningful. Proceeds from the evening help support local library programs and community resources.
Fans can expect an engaging night of stories, humor, and reflection as Marin looks back on his career — from comedy and film to books, art, and beyond.
Tickets are available at palmspringspeaks.org. The event takes place February 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre.
