DAP Health Launches “A Checkup Is a Checkup” Campaign to Encourage Preventive Care Across the Coachella Valley

Most of us check many things every day without even thinking about it. We check the time on our phones. We check our steps. We look in the mirror. We scroll through social media.

But when it comes to our health, those regular check-ins often get skipped.

DAP Health wants to change that.

DAP Health has launched a new campaign called “A Checkup Is a Checkup.” The goal is to help people feel more comfortable talking about health screenings and to remind the community that checkups are a normal part of taking care of yourself.

The campaign compares health screenings to things we already check every day. If we can check our messages or our heart rate, we can also check in on our physical, mental, and sexual health. The message is simple, screenings are nothing to be afraid of. They are just part of staying healthy.

You’ll see the campaign displayed at DAP Health’s 25 clinic locations across the Coachella Valley and nearby communities. The campaign talks about screenings for breast, cervical, and colon cancer; HIV, hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted infections; depression and diabetes; and high blood pressure and other preventable conditions. Each message reminds patients that every screening matters.

DAP Health is a federally qualified health center, also known as an FQHC. This means DAP Health provides care to people no matter their income or insurance status. Many DAP Health patients have Medi-Cal, are uninsured, or have had trouble getting care in the past. For some people, fear, stigma, or lack of information can make checkups feel scary or hard to schedule.

This campaign is meant to change that by sharing clear, easy-to-understand information.

“Our goal is to make health conversations feel normal and welcoming,” said Dr. Jason Halperin, a physician at DAP Health. “When patients see checkups as a regular part of life, they are more likely to come in and take care of their health.”

The campaign also reminds patients that care at DAP Health is personal. Providers talk with each patient about which screenings are right for them based on age, health history, and individual needs.

In the end, “A Checkup Is a Checkup” is about helping people feel informed, supported, and confident in their care. By making preventive screenings feel normal and judgment-free, DAP Health is working to improve health and quality of life for the entire community.
