Minute Maid Frozen Juice Concentrates Being Discontinued After 80 Years on Store Shelves
A familiar item in many freezers is on its way out.
The Coca-Cola Company confirmed it is exiting the frozen juice concentrate category, bringing an end to Minute Maid’s frozen products after roughly eight decades. The company says the decision reflects changing consumer preferences, with shoppers increasingly choosing fresh or ready-to-drink beverages over frozen concentrates.
The frozen lineup — which includes flavors like orange, lemonade, pink lemonade, raspberry lemonade, and limeade — will remain available only while existing inventory lasts.
The frozen juice concept dates back to 1946, when it was introduced as a way for families to enjoy farm-fresh juice year-round. The Minute Maid brand followed a few years later, emphasizing convenience and quick preparation. Coca-Cola acquired the company in 1960, helping turn it into a household name.
Over time, advances in refrigeration and pasteurization shifted buying habits toward fresh alternatives, gradually pushing frozen juices to the margins of the beverage aisle.
While Coca-Cola says its overall juice business recently gained market share — helped by zero-sugar options — frozen juice continues to struggle. According to NIQ, sales in the frozen juice category dropped nearly 8% over the past year.
Minute Maid will continue selling fresh juices and other beverage products, but for many shoppers, the familiar frozen cans represent a nostalgic chapter coming to a close.
