New Partnership Expands Environmental Education and Workforce Training in Coachella Valley
A new partnership is helping prepare college students in the Coachella Valley for careers in sustainability and environmental management.
The FLOWS program, in collaboration with Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus, is expanding access to hands-on learning opportunities focused on some of the region’s most pressing environmental challenges. The initiative connects students with field-based research, community outreach, and workforce training in areas such as water resources, land conservation, and climate resilience.
Program leaders say the effort was created to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience.
Through partnerships with local organizations, students are able to work directly in the community, learning from residents while also contributing to ongoing environmental projects.
Supporters say the program not only benefits students but also strengthens regional efforts to protect natural resources and prepare for climate-related challenges.
The FLOWS program is currently supported through community donations, and organizers hope to continue expanding opportunities for students across the Coachella Valley.
