Tour de Palm Springs Brings Road Closures to Valley This Weekend

Thousands of cyclists and walkers will take to the streets this weekend for the 28th annual Tour de Palm Springs, bringing road closures to downtown Palm Springs and a section of CV Link.

The event, which has raised money for Coachella Valley nonprofits since 1998, features an expo on Friday and Saturday with rides launching Saturday morning. Riders begin departing at 6:30 a.m., with the final group of walkers leaving at 10 a.m.

Road closures in Palm Springs begin Friday at 6 a.m., when South Palm Canyon Drive from Baristo Road to Tahquitz Canyon Way shuts down to vehicles through 7 p.m. Saturday. Arenas Road will also close on both sides of Palm Canyon Drive for event setup. On Saturday at 5 a.m., Tahquitz Canyon Way closes from Palm Canyon Drive to Indian Canyon Drive for the rider departure. Northbound Indian Canyon Drive will be reduced to one lane.

In La Quinta, CV Link will be closed from Fred Waring Drive to Airport Boulevard from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Event staff will be on hand for traffic control. All other CV Link segments remain open.

The expo runs Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
