DOJ records reveal Palm Springs businessman exchanged messages with Jeffrey Epstein in 2013
Newly released records from the United States Department of Justice are shedding light on an alleged Palm Springs connection to the case involving Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the documents, Peter Mahler, a Palm Springs businessman who operates a staffing company, exchanged messages with Epstein in 2013 — approximately five years after Epstein’s conviction on child prostitution charges.
The records indicate the messages appeared to relate to staffing or employment matters. Authorities emphasized that Mahler has not been accused of any wrongdoing and said there is no indication that anyone he communicated with or referred was connected to Epstein’s criminal activity or was a victim.
NBC Palm Springs reached out to Mahler for comment. He provided the following statement:
“The revelations about Jeffrey Epstein are abhorrent. We were conducting searches for professional administrative staff and property management positions for Jeffrey Epstein. These ultimately failed because he did not like the qualified candidates we identified for him to interview. Knowing what we know now, we would never have worked with him under any circumstances.”
The documents are part of a broader release of federal records tied to Epstein, whose crimes sparked international outrage and ongoing scrutiny of his associates and business dealings.
Local officials reiterated that the newly disclosed communications do not suggest criminal conduct by Mahler or any Palm Springs-based individuals, and no charges have been filed in connection with these messages.
