Super Bowl Weekend Heats Up as Seahawks, Patriots Fans Fill Radio Row in San Francisco
Super Bowl weekend is officially underway, and the energy is building across the San Francisco Bay Area as fans prepare for the showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
While Sunday’s big game will be played at Levi’s Stadium, much of the excitement is happening ahead of kickoff on Radio Row in downtown San Francisco. NBC Palm Springs Sports’ Tim O’Brien and Caitlin Kelley are continuing their live coverage, surrounded by celebrities, athletes, and Hall of Fame broadcasters.
Day two on Radio Row brought even bigger crowds, with Seahawks fans clearly dominating the scene. Reporters noted very few Patriots supporters in sight, adding to the growing narrative that Seattle could be poised for a strong showing. But longtime sportscaster Jim Gray urged caution, reminding fans that Super Bowls are rarely predictable.
Gray pointed to past upsets involving Tom Brady and the Patriots, as well as the Giants’ stunning victory over an undefeated New England team, emphasizing that no one truly “runs away” with a Super Bowl.
Radio Row also delivered plenty of star power, with Bo Jackson spotted nearby along with several current NFL hopefuls. O’Brien noted that betting lines continue to tighten as Sunday approaches, suggesting a closer matchup than many fans expect.
The NBC Palm Springs Sports team also previewed upcoming interviews, including conversations with Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy and Rich Gannon, who spends part of the year in the Coachella Valley.
With more celebrity sightings and player interviews ahead, viewers can expect continued coverage tonight on NBC Palm Springs at 5 and 6 p.m., offering a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest sports weeks of the year.
