Thousands of Cyclists to Take Over Coachella Valley Roads for Annual Charity Ride
Thousands of cyclists will take over Coachella Valley roads this weekend for the 28th annual Tour de Palm Springs, prompting multiple street closures from Friday through Saturday evening. The event has raised money for hundreds of local nonprofits since 1998.
Road closures began Friday morning in downtown Palm Springs. South Palm Canyon Drive from Baristo Road to Tahquitz Canyon Way closed to vehicles at 6 a.m. and will remain shut down through Saturday at 7 p.m. Arenas Road is also closed on both sides of Palm Canyon Drive for event setup.
On Saturday morning, Tahquitz Canyon Way from Palm Canyon Drive to Indian Canyon Drive will close at 5 a.m. for rider departures starting at 6:30 a.m. The final group of walkers departs at 10 a.m. Indian Canyon Drive's northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane for vehicles and one for cyclists.
The CV Link pathway from Fred Waring Drive to Airport Boulevard will be closed Saturday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. as riders pass through La Quinta and Indio. Event staff will provide traffic control. All other CV Link segments remain open.
The expo runs Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Palm Springs.
