City of Indio Celebrates Black History Month with Free, Family-Friendly Event

The City of Indio marked Black History Month today with a free, family-friendly celebration in the heart of downtown.

Hosted by the City of Indio and the Indio Black History Committee, the community event brought families and residents together for an afternoon of education, entertainment, and cultural celebration at Center Stage in downtown Indio.

Attendees enjoyed a full lineup of activities, including guest speakers, panel discussions, live entertainment, games, resource booths, food vendors, and a free kids zone.

The celebration continued into the evening with a free concert at Center Stage featuring E and J Movement, performing Motown favorites. The first 100 people through the gates received a free burger from Papa Headz as the concert kicked off.

City officials say events like this help strengthen community connections and honor the history and contributions of Black Americans throughout the Coachella Valley.
