Tour de Palm Springs returns for 28th year, bringing riders and road closures to downtown
Thousands of bicyclists are in downtown Palm Springs today as the Tour de Palm Springs returns for its 28th year.
The annual cycling event brings riders from across the region to the Coachella Valley and features multiple routes designed for cyclists of all skill levels. This year’s theme honors military members, first responders, and veterans.
Since 1998, the Tour de Palm Springs has raised nearly $5 million for more than 150 local nonprofit organizations.
This year’s honorary guests include retired professional cyclist Frankie Andreu, who competed in nine Tour de France races, along with Bill and Deanna Young, longtime Salvation Army board members.
The event kicked off at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, with the final group of walkers departing at 10 a.m.
