Black Cat Pizza Serves Up Slices, Community, and Comfort

Today is National Pizza Day, and Americans are celebrating in a big way. An estimated three billion pizzas are eaten each year across the country about 23 pounds of pizza per person annually.

Here in the Coachella Valley, Black Cat Pizza in Palm Desert is helping customers mark the occasion by serving up its signature Detroit-style pies with a unique California twist.

Owner Sean Petrie says pizza is more than just a meal-- it’s a way to connect. From the cheese and sauce to the toppings piled high, each pie is designed to be shared, sparking conversation and creating memories.

Petrie says National Pizza Day is the perfect opportunity to spotlight his specialty pizzas while giving back to the community he grew up in. He adds that cooking for people and seeing them enjoy the food is what makes the job meaningful.
