British Police Assess Claim Former Prince Andrew Shared Confidential Trade Information With Jeffrey Epstein
British police are assessing allegations that Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, shared confidential trade information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his former role as a United Kingdom trade envoy.
Thames Valley Police confirmed Monday that it has received a report outlining the claims and is currently reviewing the information according to its established procedures. The police force did not provide further details, noting that the assessment remains ongoing.
The report was submitted by Graham Smith, chief executive of the British anti-monarchist group Republic. Smith said he reported Prince Andrew to police for suspected misconduct in public office and a possible breach of official secrets related to the alleged sharing of confidential documents.
Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with his relationship with Epstein, who died in 2019 while in U.S. custody. He has not publicly commented on the latest allegations. CNN has reached out to Prince Andrew for a response.
The claims add to longstanding scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew’s past association with Epstein, which has previously led to legal, financial, and reputational consequences for the former royal. However, no charges have been announced in connection with this new allegation, and police have emphasized that the matter is still under review.
Authorities stress that assessing a report does not imply guilt or wrongdoing and that further updates will be provided if the situation develops.
