Know Before You Go: Major Road Projects This Week in the Coachella Valley

Several construction projects will impact traffic across the Valley this week. CV Sync Program Manager Kris Gunterson breaks it all down.

Indio: The intersection of Jefferson Street and Indio Boulevard remains down to one lane in each direction for ongoing road improvements. The project, which runs through the end of March, is expected to wrap up before the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament and Coachella festival season. Drivers should consider using Washington Street or Monroe Street as alternate routes, or access the freeway via Fred Waring Drive or Highway 111.

La Quinta: Two projects are underway this week. At Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road, crews will install a new traffic signal pole at the northeast corner through Tuesday, February 10th. The signal will operate in red flash mode with stop signs in place. Meanwhile, the Adams Street paving project kicks into high gear this week, with crews beginning paving operations from Fred Waring Drive south to Avenue 48. Work will start on inside lanes before moving to outside lanes through the end of February. Use Jefferson Street, Washington Street, or Dune Palms Road as alternates.

Palm Desert: Northbound Cook Street's outside lane will see lane closures for work through Thursday, February 12th. Drivers should expect minor delays and reduce speed through the area.

Night Work Alert: Jackson Street in Indio will be closed between Highway 111 and Civic Center Drive nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting tonight. Avoid the area during these hours.
