Mission Pollination Brings the World of Nature’s Unsung Heroes to Life at The Living Desert
A new immersive experience at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is inviting visitors to step into the fascinating world of pollinators—and discover why their survival matters now more than ever.
The interactive exhibit, Mission Pollination, blends education, sound, movement, and play to spotlight the tiny creatures responsible for keeping ecosystems—and food systems—alive.
From the moment guests enter, they’re surrounded by the sounds of nature at work. Buzzing wings, rustling movement, and rhythmic beats bring pollination to life, setting the stage for a hands-on journey through a walk-through maze designed for visitors of all ages.
Inside the maze, guests follow the path of pollinators as they move pollen from plant to plant, learning how even the smallest actions can have a big impact on the environment. Throughout the exhibit, larger-than-life animatronic insects and animals highlight species that are often overlooked but essential to life on Earth.
Mission Pollination doesn’t stop at education—it also inspires action. Interactive displays share simple ways visitors can help pollinators thrive, from planting native plants in their own yards to reducing chemical use at home.
Park educators say the goal is to make the science of pollination easy to understand and fun to explore. By using sound, movement, and playful activities, the exhibit shows even the youngest visitors why pollinators matter—and how everyone can play a role in protecting them.
Mission Pollination is now open at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, offering a buzzing new way to connect with nature and the creatures that help it grow.
