Team USA Finishes Seventh in Mixed Team Ski Jumping at Winter Olympics

Team USA took part Tuesday in the second-ever Olympic mixed team ski jumping final, competing against the world’s top programs in Predazzo, Italy.

The American team opened the event with a strong performance from Annika Belshaw, who was the highest finisher for Team USA in the women’s normal hill competition earlier in the Games. Her jump gave the U.S. an early boost in the standings.

Nineteen-year-old Jason Colby followed, working to keep Team USA in contention with a solid run. Both Colby and Belshaw hail from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a community well known for producing elite winter sports athletes.

Paige Jones of Park City, Utah added another steady jump as Team USA continued its push, while Tate Frantz of Lake Placid, New York helped the Americans secure their first-ever top-ten finish in the Olympic mixed team ski jumping event.

Despite the strong effort, Slovenia dominated the competition. World champion siblings Domen Prevc and Nika Prevc led their team to the gold medal, pulling away from the field in the later rounds.

Team USA ultimately finished seventh overall, marking a milestone performance for the program as the mixed team event continues to grow on the Olympic stage.
