Coachella City Council to Discuss Municipal Electric Utility, Interim City Manager Tonight

Coachella City Council meets tonight for a closed session at 4 p.m. followed by a regular meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Among the closed session items is the appointment of an interim city manager.

In open session, the council will consider a municipal utility development agreement with Coachella Valley Power Services, LLC, a key step in implementing the city's planned municipal electric utility. Related items on the consent calendar include consulting agreements totaling up to $217,500 for electric infrastructure funding, bond issuance advisory services, and compliance work.

Other business includes a lease agreement with El Tranvia, Inc. for a city-owned building at 1258 Sixth Street in the Downtown Pueblo Viejo District, and naming options for the Sixth Street Seniors Apartments.

The consent calendar also includes approval of roughly $5.8 million in city expenditures and quarterly reports for October through December.
