Fire Chief to Present After-Action Report on Prescott Preserve Fire at Tonight's City Council Meeting

Palm Springs Fire Chief Paul Alvarado will present an after-action report on the Prescott Preserve fire at Wednesday's City Council meeting, according to a city press release. The blaze broke out on February 1st, destroying roughly 100 palm trees and wiping out wildlife habitats at the popular community site.

The presentation comes about two weeks after the fire and one week after the last public information from authorities. Palm Springs Police previously reported they were investigating whether the blaze was set intentionally or started through reckless behavior.

It remains unclear whether authorities have identified a cause or made progress in locating a potential witness.

The fire report is one of several agenda items for Wednesday. The Council will also hear a presentation from SunLine Transit Agency on transit operations, consider a resolution for state Cannabis Equity Grant funding, and revisit an ordinance restructuring the city's Hotel Incentive Program.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Residents can attend in person, watch live atpalmspringsca.gov, on the city's YouTube channel.
