Jordan Stolz Wins 1000m Gold, Sets Olympic Record as Team USA Ranks Third in Medal Standings

Jordan Stolz made a statement in his Olympic debut at the 2026 Winter Games.

The 21-year-old American speed skating standout captured gold in the men’s 1,000 meters, blazing across the finish line with a new Olympic record. His victory also marked the largest margin of triumph in the event since 1984.

In his very first race of the Milan Cortina Games, Stolz didn’t just win — he made history. The performance further cements his reputation as one of the brightest young stars in international speed skating.

With Stolz’s gold medal, Team USA continues to climb in the overall standings.

Norway currently leads the medal table with 13 total medals, including seven gold. Italy sits in second place, also with 13 medals.

Team USA is now ranked third overall with 12 medals — four gold, six silver and two bronze.

Germany holds fourth place with eight medals, while Austria rounds out the top five, also with eight medals, including two gold.
