Dr. George Charity Car Show Returns to Indian Wells This Saturday to Support Desert Cancer Foundation
The 23rd Annual Dr. George Charity Car Show cruises into the Indian Wells Tennis Garden this Saturday, bringing over 1,100 vintage cars and thousands of spectators together to raise funds for the Desert Cancer Foundation, which helps local residents who can't afford cancer treatment get the care they need.
"We appreciate the Palm Springs Cruisin' Association supporting Desert Cancer Foundation," said Mark Scheibach, Executive Director of the Desert Cancer Foundation. "It's built on the idea that no local Coachella Valley resident should forego lifesaving cancer treatment because of their inability to pay."
Last year's car show raised $120,000 for the foundation.
The event honors Dr. Sebastian George, a beloved local physician who co-founded the Desert Cancer Foundation in 1994 before passing away in 2002. Many members of the Palm Springs Cruisin' Association were his patients, and they launched the car show to continue his legacy of helping cancer patients in the community.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 18-acre lawn at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Along with the cars, there'll be live music, trophy prizes, food trucks, vendors, and a kids' pedal car race.
