Team USA surges in final full week of Winter Olympics competition in Italy

The final full week of competition at the Winter Olympics is underway across northern Italy, and Team USA is gaining momentum in several high-profile events.

The United States currently sits third in the overall medal count and is well positioned to add to its total as key competitions continue.

On the ice, the U.S. men’s hockey team delivered a dominant 5–1 victory over Germany, securing the top spot in Group C and advancing to the quarterfinals. The Americans enter the knockout round as the number two seed, just behind rival Canada. Players say the performance marked their most complete effort of the tournament so far.

In sliding sports, the U.S. bobsled team is closing in on history. Heading into the women’s monobob finals, American athletes hold three of the top five positions. Four-time Olympian Alana Myers-Taylor, the most decorated bobsledder in Olympic history, is currently in second place and within striking distance of another medal.

Team USA is also rolling in curling, with both the men’s and women’s teams riding three-match win streaks and pushing toward the medal rounds. The women face host nation Italy in a key matchup.

Meanwhile, the U.S. women’s hockey team continues its strong run and faces Sweden today, just one win away from advancing to the gold medal game.

With several events reaching decisive stages, Team USA is building momentum in what could be a pivotal stretch of the Games.
