Two Dead, Three Injured in Shooting at Rhode Island Hockey Game

A shooting at a hockey arena in Pawtucket has left two people dead and three others injured.

Police say the violence broke out during a game being played at the arena Saturday afternoon. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a family dispute. Among those killed was reportedly a young girl.

Authorities confirmed the suspected gunman is also dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The relationship between the suspect and the victims has not yet been released.

Spokespeople from three schools with students participating on the two teams said their students were accounted for and safe.

Federal authorities responded to assist local law enforcement as the investigation continues. Officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
