Hillary Clinton alleges cover-up in handling of Epstein files as DOJ faces scrutiny

Hillary Clinton is accusing the Trump administration of carrying out what she describes as a “continuing cover-up” in the handling and release of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Clinton alleged federal officials are slow-walking the release of information, heavily redacting names, and resisting requests from members of Congress. The Department of Justice has pushed back on those claims, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche saying the agency is committed to transparency and is not concealing information.

The dispute comes as millions of pages of Epstein-related records continue to be released. Recent document batches include references to Bill Clinton and details about interactions between Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and people in the former president’s orbit. Bill Clinton has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, and Hillary Clinton said both of them “have nothing to hide.”

The Clintons are scheduled to participate in closed-door depositions later this month as part of a House investigation into Epstein’s network. They agreed to testify after lawmakers considered holding them in contempt for failing to comply with earlier subpoenas. Hillary Clinton has also said she would welcome public hearings.

She argued that scrutiny directed at her and her husband is being used to shift focus away from President Donald Trump, who is mentioned numerous times in the documents. Trump has said he has been fully exonerated and dismissed Clinton’s claims.

The Justice Department continues to face criticism from Epstein victims and members of Congress over how names and details are redacted. Some lawmakers who reviewed unredacted materials say powerful individuals may be receiving protection. Additional names have since been disclosed, and Congress has been given a list of politically exposed individuals tied to the investigation.
