Cathedral City Man Shot and Killed After Confrontation; Suspects Fled in Black SUV

Cathedral City Police are searching for suspects in a deadly shooting that happened Tuesday morning in a residential area off San Gabriel Circle.

Investigators say a 36-year-old Cathedral City man was confronted by unknown suspects in a black Dodge Durango SUV around 11:17 am in the 30800 block of San Gabriel Circle. The victim exchanged words with the suspects and was then shot. Cathedral City Fire and EMS personnel tried to save him, but he died from his injuries at the scene.

The suspects fled south on San Gabriel Circle towards San Luis Rey, investigators say. Police have not released the victim's name at this time.

Detectives are following up on investigative leads and are asking anyone with information or camera footage that may have captured the incident or the vehicle to come forward.
