Free reproductive health vending machine launches in Indianapolis to expand access to essential supplies

A new vending machine offering free reproductive health and safety supplies is now available to the community on the north side of Indianapolis.

Located at All Souls Unitarian Church, the machine provides a range of essential products, including pads, tampons, condoms, emergency contraception, Narcan, and fentanyl test strips. Organizers say the goal is to make critical health items easy to access in a safe and judgment-free environment.

The initiative is a partnership between the church and Indiana Task FORCE: Feminists Organizing & Re-imagining Civic Engagement. Volunteers say the program was created to address growing concerns about access to basic reproductive health resources, especially in a state with restrictive abortion laws.

Community leaders say placing the vending machine near a food pantry helps meet multiple needs at once, particularly for individuals facing financial hardship. Organizers emphasize that people should not have to choose between buying essential health supplies and paying for food or other necessities.

Supporters also say the program reflects broader efforts to expand access to reproductive care and harm-reduction resources. Advocates hope the availability of free supplies will help reduce stigma and empower people to make informed choices about their health.

The vending machine officially opened Sunday, and organizers plan to continue restocking and expanding available products. Long term, they hope programs like this will no longer be necessary as access to essential health resources becomes more widespread.
