Big Bear’s High-Altitude Training Center Lets Visitors Train Like Olympians as Winter Games Wrap Up
With the Winter Games coming to a close this Sunday, locals and visitors still have a chance to experience Olympic-style training right here in Southern California.
In Big Bear’s Moon Ridge Corridor, a new high-altitude training center is giving the community — and curious tourists — a place to train, recover, and focus on overall wellness. NBC Palm Springs’ Tim O’Brien visited the 1,600-square-foot facility, designed to bring fitness, recovery, and health services together in one location.
The goal is to create a full health and wellness campus where people can lift weights, train in combat sports, stretch, and access recovery services like chiropractic care — all under one roof. The center’s founder says the vision has been years in the making, built to serve both athletes and everyday residents in the Big Bear community.
The facility is already drawing interest from local trainers and health professionals, with additional features expected to be completed by April. Organizers say the collaborative environment has been especially valuable in a small mountain town where wellness experts often work closely together.
Meanwhile, Big Bear is looking every bit like a winter sports destination. Recent storms brought significant snowfall — with reports of up to 30 inches of fresh powder — creating ideal conditions for visitors enjoying the final days of the Winter Games season.
