Rapper Lil Poppa Dies at 25 in Atlanta as Cause of Death Remains Under Investigation

Rapper Lil Poppa, a rising hip-hop artist from Jacksonville, Florida, has died at the age of 25.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed that Lil Poppa, whose legal name was Janarious Mykel Wheeler, was found in Atlanta and pronounced dead shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say the cause of death is still under investigation.

Lil Poppa built a growing fan base through his emotional storytelling and melodic rap style. He was signed to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group and gained recognition for projects including Blessed, I Guess and his Under Investigation mixtape series. He also collaborated with Yo Gotti on the track H Spot.

Earlier this week, Lil Poppa shared a post on his verified Instagram account promoting the release of the music video for his single Out Of Town Bae. The account, which has more than one million followers, featured recent content connected to Atlanta, where he was found.

News of his death has sparked reaction from fans and the hip-hop community, as many remember the young artist’s rapid rise and growing influence in Southern rap.

Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
