"Dog Days at the Zoo" Debuts at Living Desert for Love Your Pet Day

Dog lovers across the Coachella Valley are celebrating Love Your Pet Day in a special way.

Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is hosting its first-ever “Dog Days at the Zoo,” giving guests the opportunity to bring their four-legged companions along for the experience.

COO RoxAnna Breitigan said the idea came after seeing other zoos successfully host similar events. With its open spaces, trails, and park areas, she says the campus was a perfect fit.

The event quickly sold out after tickets were posted online, prompting organizers to increase capacity. Activities include a special dog-themed playlist, water stations throughout the park, a “sniffari,” a splash zone just for dogs, and food options for guests.

Admission is $35 for a dog “passport” ticket in addition to regular zoo admission. Members can also purchase dog passes. Last admission is at 4 p.m., and the zoo closes at 5.

Organizers say the day has been heartwarming, with many guests calling it one of the best zoo visits ever, combining time with their pets and their favorite zoo animals all in one place.
