Fido Fridays Spotlight: Coco and Community Efforts to Give Shelter Dogs Second Chances
The popular community program Fido continues to brighten lives for both dogs and people through its weekly segment, Fido Fridays. Started by local community members, Fido allows residents to take a shelter dog out for a day, helping the animal decompress while providing companionship and fun for volunteers.
This week, community contributor Jen Agnew introduced Coco, a three-year-old dog who has been at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus since October 3. Coco is described as affectionate, great with other dogs, and adores every person she meets. She especially loves hugs and car rides, making her a perfect companion for a day out.
Fido Fridays emphasizes visibility and hope, showing that although shelter dogs didn’t choose their circumstances, they continue to share love and joy. By participating in Fido, volunteers help transform uncertainty into opportunities for second chances, giving dogs a greater chance of finding permanent homes.
Those interested in adopting Coco can contact the shelter directly, using her ID number A1724465. Additionally, community members can sign up to become Fido walkers by emailing Pam Solek at pamsolek@gmail.com or connecting via the Nextdoor app.
The program also celebrates success stories: previous Fido Fridays features Jimmy and Tonya have both recently been adopted into forever homes. Fido continues to rely on community participation to give these dogs the loving homes they deserve.
