BAFTA Film Awards 2026 Winners Revealed Ahead of Oscars Race
The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards are underway in London, with the ceremony helping shape the momentum heading into this year’s Academy Awards.
One of the early surprises came when Wunmi Mosaku won supporting actress for her role in “Sinners,” beating out several strong contenders. Sean Penn also took home supporting actor honors for “One Battle After Another.”
Several films entered the night as major contenders. “One Battle After Another” led with 14 nominations, followed closely by “Sinners” with 13. “Hamnet” and “Marty Supreme” were also strong performers, each earning 11 nominations across multiple categories.
Technical categories delivered big wins as well. “Frankenstein” captured both production design and make-up and hair, while “Avatar: Fire and Ash” won for special visual effects. In family entertainment, “Boong” took the prize for children’s and family film.
The awards are closely watched by industry insiders because they often signal how voters may lean at the Oscars, which are just weeks away. Along with the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards, the BAFTAs are among the final major indicators before Hollywood’s biggest night.
Several major categories — including best film, leading actor, leading actress and directing — remain key focal points as the ceremony continues and the awards season race intensifies.
