Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez Due in Court Monday for Perjury Case Hearing

Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez is scheduled to appear at the Indio Courthouse on Monday morning for continued hearings in his perjury trial, with the session set to begin at 8:30 AM.

Hernandez was arrested and charged in October 2025 and faces multiple felony counts of perjury and conflict of interest. Prosecutors say the charges stem from Hernandez failing to disclose income from a property he owns in Coachella and signing a contract with a local organization for his personal financial interest.

The mayor pled not guilty during his initial court appearance at the Larson Justice Center in Indio shortly after his arrest. According to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, the indictment lists the property at the center of the case four times, with prosecutors claiming Hernandez misrepresented the gross income generated by the property, which is used to house tenants on a short-term basis.

NBC Palm Springs will be covering Monday's hearing and will provide updates as they become available.
