Former American Idol Contestant Caleb Flynn Charged with Murder in Wife’s Death

A former American Idol contestant is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he killed his wife and staged the scene to appear like a burglary.

Caleb Flynn is charged with murder, felony assault, and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his wife, Ashley, at their home in Ohio. Investigators say the couple’s two children were inside the home at the time of the alleged killing.

According to authorities, Flynn called 911 last week claiming someone had broken into the home and killed his wife. During the call, he told dispatchers she had been shot in the head and that there was blood everywhere.

Police later determined the reported burglary did not occur and charged Flynn in connection with her death. He pleaded not guilty during a court appearance last Friday.

Ashley Flynn, a teacher and volleyball coach, is being remembered by family and community members as a positive and caring presence in the lives of her students and athletes. In a statement, her family said they are leaning on faith during the difficult time, describing it as something she lived by every day.

Flynn, who gained national attention during his time on American Idol in 2013, had previously spoken publicly about his faith and devotion to his wife.

The investigation remains ongoing as the case moves forward through the court system.
