Wegovy and Ozempic Prices to Drop as Novo Nordisk Announces Major Cost Cut

Popular GLP-1 weight-loss and diabetes medications are about to become more affordable.

Drugmaker Novo Nordisk says it is cutting the list prices of Wegovy and Ozempic to $675 for a one-month supply. The price reduction will also apply to Wegovy and Rybelsus oral pills.

Currently, these medications cost more than $1,000 per month, with Wegovy injections among the most expensive at about $1,350 monthly. The company says the new lower pricing is scheduled to take effect January 1 of next year.

GLP-1 medications have surged in popularity in recent years, widely prescribed for weight management and type 2 diabetes. However, high monthly costs have been a major barrier for many patients seeking treatment.

The price reduction could make the medications more accessible, though actual out-of-pocket costs may still vary depending on insurance coverage and pharmacy pricing.

Health experts say affordability remains one of the biggest factors affecting long-term treatment access, and price changes like this could impact how widely these medications are used in the future.
