Coachella Valley Firebirds Return Home as Olympic Buzz Fuels Two-Game Homestand

The Coachella Valley Firebirds were back on home ice this week, gearing up for a brief two-game homestand while the excitement of Olympic hockey continues to resonate throughout the locker room.

The buzz follows a historic performance at the Winter Games, where Team USA captured gold, energizing players and fans alike. Minnesota native Lleyton Roed says the moment is bigger than just one tournament — it’s inspiration for the next generation of players.

He says seeing both the men’s and women’s teams win gold is something young athletes will remember for years, predicting that many kids watching will now be inspired to pick up a hockey stick for the first time.

The Olympic experience also left a lasting impression on Firebirds forward Oscar Fisker Mølgaard, who recently returned from representing Denmark. He described the Games as unforgettable — from walking through the Olympic Village to watching athletes celebrate medal victories.

Mølgaard finished the tournament with one goal and two assists for Team Denmark and says the honor of representing his country on that stage is something he will always cherish.

As the team shifts its focus back to AHL competition, the celebration continues locally. The Firebirds are offering a special “gold medal seats” promotion through March 13. Fans can visit the box office at Acrisure Arena or purchase tickets online.

With Olympic inspiration fueling the roster, the Firebirds hope that energy carries onto the ice during their upcoming homestand.
