Pippin wows audiences at Revolution Stage Company as tickets sell fast in Palm Springs

The musical Pippin is drawing big crowds at Revolution Stage Company, quickly becoming one of the hottest theater tickets in Palm Springs.

Desert Entertainment contributor Tod Macofsky recently sat down with director, choreographer and performer Nathan Wilson, who is wearing multiple hats for the production. Wilson says balancing those roles is challenging, especially during rehearsals, but once the creative foundation is set, stepping into the performance becomes much easier.

The production features an energetic and highly talented cast, with choreography heavily inspired by the iconic style of Bob Fosse. Wilson says he discovered Fosse’s work in high school and has been influenced by it ever since.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Pippin follows the son of Charlemagne as he searches for meaning and fulfillment in life. The show blends humor, spectacle and darker themes as Pippin explores everything from war to love — all while being guided and manipulated by a mysterious troupe of performers. The musical features the work of Stephen Schwartz, best known for composing Wicked.

Strong ticket demand has already prompted an additional performance, with the show now running through March 2.

Wilson isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He’s next set to appear in and choreograph Kiss of the Spider Woman at Palm Canyon Theatre, followed by additional upcoming musical projects in the Valley.
