Burger King Overhauls the Whopper After Years of Customer Complaints

Burger King announced Thursday it's giving the Whopper its first major makeover in nearly a decade, responding to years of customer complaints about smashed burgers that fell apart.
The revamped burger will come on a premium bun with creamier mayo and be served in a clamshell box instead of paper wrapping. The changes are rolling out this week to more than 7,000 restaurants nationwide, including locations in the Coachella Valley.
The chain said it was careful not to anger Whopper fanatics—the beef patty will remain the same.
The upgraded burger will cost franchisees more, but Burger King is urging them not to raise prices. Instead, the chain is betting the improvements will bring customers back.
