Hillary Clinton Testifies in Epstein Probe, Criticizes GOP Tactics During Heated Deposition

Hillary Clinton testified before the House Oversight Committee as part of the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, denying any knowledge of his criminal activities and criticizing what she described as partisan conduct by Republican lawmakers.

In a sworn deposition held in New York, Clinton said she could not recall ever meeting Epstein, had no awareness of his crimes, and only interacted a handful of times with his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. In her opening statement, she emphasized that she had “nothing to add” regarding Epstein and said she never flew on his plane or visited his properties.

The deposition quickly became contentious. Proceedings were briefly paused after a photo from inside the closed-door session was posted online, prompting Democrats to accuse Republicans of violating House rules. Democratic lawmakers described the questioning as political theater, while Republicans defended the investigation as bipartisan and necessary.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said the Clintons’ testimony is vital to answering public questions about their past ties to Epstein. Clinton, however, argued that Republicans were selectively targeting her family while ignoring others with known associations.

The deposition is one of the most high-profile moments in the committee’s probe. Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify separately.

Lawmakers agreed in advance to focus on specific areas, including the federal handling of Epstein’s investigation, the circumstances surrounding his 2019 death, efforts to combat sex trafficking, alleged influence by Epstein and Maxwell, and potential ethics concerns involving public officials.

Survivors of Epstein’s abuse have said cooperation from prominent figures is important, though they stress that appearing in documents or testifying does not imply wrongdoing.
