Rep. Omar's State of the Union Guest Arrested After Standing Silently in Gallery

Representative Ilhan Omar is demanding answers after Capitol Police removed her State of the Union guest from the gallery and arrested her for unlawful conduct.
Aliya Rahman, a disabled U.S. citizen, was charged with a misdemeanor for standing silently during President Trump's address. Capitol Police say standing meant Rahman was "demonstrating," according to a statement to the Washington Post.
Omar says the removal was rough enough that Rahman went to the hospital before being taken to Capitol Police headquarters. Rahman now faces up to six months in prison.
Rahman tells Democracy Now she wasn't standing in protest. She says others were standing around the same time, so she rose to look at lawmakers when part of the speech upset her.
Rahman made headlines earlier this year when ICE agents dragged her out of her car despite her U.S. citizenship and disability.
