Bill Clinton Denies Knowledge of Epstein Crimes During Historic Congressional Deposition
Bill Clinton denied having any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activity during a historic deposition before members of Congress, according to statements released following the nearly six hours of questioning.
Lawmakers questioned Clinton as part of an ongoing congressional investigation into Epstein’s network and the relationships of prominent figures connected to the late financier. The closed-door testimony took place in Chappaqua, New York, making Clinton the first former U.S. president compelled to testify under subpoena before a congressional committee.
During questioning, lawmakers presented Clinton with photos from materials released by the Justice Department and asked about his interactions with Epstein and others connected to him. According to sources familiar with the testimony, Clinton denied wrongdoing and said he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
In a public statement, Clinton said he had only a brief acquaintance with Epstein and insisted he saw nothing suspicious during their interactions. He also stated that if he had known about Epstein’s conduct, he would have reported it.
Investigators asked about Clinton’s travel on Epstein’s private plane and past meetings involving Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in connection with Epstein’s crimes. Clinton acknowledged past contact but maintained he was unaware of any illegal activity.
Lawmakers from both parties described Clinton as cooperative during the deposition. The testimony followed sworn questioning of Hillary Clinton a day earlier as part of the same inquiry.
The deposition marks a significant moment in the broader congressional investigation, which continues to examine Epstein’s connections and the extent of knowledge among high-profile associates.
