BNP Paribas Open Kicks Off This Weekend

The BNP Paribas Open gets underway on Sunday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, bringing top players from around the world to the desert for two weeks of world-class tennis.

Sunday starts the women's qualifying rounds, with gates opening daily at 10 a.m. throughout the tournament's run.

The tournament is packing the schedule with entertainment beyond the matches. American Idol Season 22 winner and Coachella Valley local Abi Carter will perform at the Village Stage on Wednesday, March 4, and country artist Sara Evans will headline the All Star Jam on Saturday, March 7. A fireworks show lights up Stadium 1 that weekend after the first evening match.

Even if you're not heading to the matches, traffic will be heavy in the area for the next two weeks. The main congestion will hit the intersection of Washington Street and Highway 111, with traffic building up around 9:30 a.m. as gates open.

Things pick up again around 4:30 p.m., when day sessions end and night matches begin.
