College of the Desert Baseball off to a hot start thanks to local connection to the Valley.

The Roadrunners are 10-4 and lead the Inland Empire Athletic Conference with a 3-1 record. The team's success starts from the staff on down. A staff familiar with the pride and tradition of the program.

Former Kraken and Firebirds' forward Tye Kartye was claimed off waivers on Friday by the New York Rangers. Kartye has three goals and five assists this season and will slide into the Rangers' lineup as early as this weekend.

And, on Saturday, the Firebirds will host the Bakersfield Condors on Cancer Awareness Night at Acrisure Arena. Coachella Valley will look to bounce back from their loss on Thursday to Henderson.
