Coachella Valley Students Shine at Riverside County Science and Engineering Fair, Top Winners Advance to State and International Competition
Students from across the Coachella Valley put their innovation and research skills on display at the Riverside County Science and Engineering Fair, held Friday at the Riverside Convention Center.
The event featured 530 students from throughout Riverside County presenting 367 research projects across 22 different subject categories. Among them were many of the Coachella Valley’s brightest young scientists, sharing experiments and findings that reflect months — and in some cases years — of work.
Judging took place Friday and was closed to the public. However, the community is invited to view the projects Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing top performers.
Winners in both the junior and senior divisions will advance to the California state competition. In addition, three high school students will represent the region at the international level, earning spots at the International Science Fair in Phoenix this May.
Organizers say the annual event highlights the depth of student achievement in science, technology, engineering and math while giving young researchers an opportunity to share their work on a larger stage.
