BNP Paribas Open Underway in Indian Wells, Main Draw Starts Wednesday

The BNP Paribas Open kicked off Sunday with thousands flocking to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the two-week tournament.

Women's qualifying rounds began over the weekend, with men's qualifying starting this morning. The first round of main tournament play is set for Wednesday, bringing top-ranked players to the desert courts.

Today's matches include American Colton Smith taking on Japan's Sho Shimabukuro at 10 a.m. in stadium 3. Slovenia's Kaja Juvan faces American Akasha Urhobo in stadium 5 starting no earlier than 2 p.m., while American Mitchell Krueger and Czechia's Dalibor Svrcina close out the day in stadium 6.

Match times can shift depending on how long earlier rounds run. The full schedule is available at bnpparibasopen.com/schedule/order-of-play.

Last year, the tournament drew more than 500,000 fans—a record for the event. With strong ticket sales and desert sunshine in the forecast, organizers say they're expecting another massive turnout through the tournament's final day on March 15th.

NBC Palm Springs will have continued coverage throughout the week.
