Jessica Pegula Brings Star Power to Taste of Tennis in Indian Wells Ahead of BNP Paribas Open
A serve of star power has arrived in the desert — both on and off the court.
World No. 5 Jessica Pegula was among the headliners at Taste of Tennis at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas, speaking with NBC Palm Springs weather anchor Pablo Alsina as excitement builds ahead of tournament play.
Pegula comes into Indian Wells riding high after a recent tournament victory in Dubai. She says the momentum feels great as she transitions to what she considers a “somewhat home” tournament in the United States.
“I’m feeling great,” Pegula said. “Always nice to come off a good tournament win and come to a somewhat home tournament here in the U.S., and hopefully I can keep it going.”
The timing makes it even sweeter. Pegula celebrated her birthday just last week, turning her Dubai win into what she calls an “extended birthday present.”
Beyond the competition, Pegula praised the Indian Wells atmosphere, calling it one of her favorite stops on tour. She highlighted the fan support — especially for American players — and the beauty of the venue.
“The fans are amazing,” she said. “It’s one of the best places for a player to experience that support.”
And since it was Taste of Tennis, one final question had to be asked: what’s her favorite food?
“Tacos,” Pegula said with a smile. “Anything with a taco on it.”
With confidence, momentum, and birthday vibes still going strong, Pegula is hoping to keep the celebration alive on the court in Indian Wells.
