Local Lawmakers React to Operation Epic Fury as Middle East Conflict Escalates
As Operation Epic Fury continues overseas, local representatives are now weighing in on the escalating conflict.
Congressman Raul Ruiz issued a statement on social media expressing concern over the loss of American service members and questioning the justification for military action.
“My heart breaks for the service members killed and severely injured,” Ruiz wrote. “There was no proof or evidence given to Congress and the American people of an imminent threat to the U.S., and Trump sent them anyway. It didn’t have to be this way and I will demand answers.”
Meanwhile, Congressman Ken Calvert provided NBC Palm Springs with a statement supporting the president’s decision.
“President Trump’s decision to launch Operation Epic Fury will protect America and our allies by eliminating the Iranian regime’s ability to wage terror and threaten its enemies,” Calvert said. “It will also provide the Iranian people with the historic opportunity to shape their own future free from oppression.”
The differing responses reflect the broader debate unfolding on Capitol Hill as lawmakers consider possible limits on further military action.
