Man Pleads Not Guilty in 2002 La Quinta Shooting Death
A La Quinta man facing murder charges in a decades-old homicide entered a not guilty plea in court Tuesday.
Alex Anthony Uribe, 46, pled not guilty to first-degree murder in the 2002 shooting death of 27-year-old Hernan Marquez. Investigators say Marquez was leaving a house party on Avenida Mendoza in the early morning hours of August 11th, 2002, when an altercation broke out and he was shot and killed.
The case went cold for more than 20 years before the Riverside County Sheriff's Cold Case Team reopened it. A recent review led to new leads and Uribe's arrest last Friday.
Uribe is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on March 13th.
