Palm Desert Dispensary Funds Young Black Race Car Drivers Through New Product Line

A local cannabis business in Palm Desert is combining entrepreneurship with community support to help diversify the world of youth motorsports. The dispensary, Royal Highness, has introduced a new line of cannabis products with profits dedicated to helping young Black drivers pursue racing opportunities.

The initiative began after the owner’s son entered competitive youth racing. While attending events and training programs, the family noticed a significant lack of diversity among participants and quickly realized the high costs associated with the sport. Racing programs often require substantial funding for equipment, entry fees, travel, and training—expenses that can prevent many young drivers from participating.

In response, the business launched the product line with the goal of using proceeds to help cover those costs. The funding is intended not only to support the owner’s son but also to assist other aspiring Black racers who may face similar financial barriers.

Advocates say increasing access to motorsports can open doors to careers in racing, engineering, and automotive technology. However, without financial support, many talented young drivers struggle to gain the experience needed to advance in the field.

By linking product sales to sponsorship and funding, the Palm Desert dispensary hopes to create more opportunities for underrepresented youth while encouraging greater diversity in motorsports. Organizers say the ultimate goal is to help the next generation of racers compete—and succeed—on the track.
