Potty Dances, Absinthe, and Name Tags — Oh My! It's Your Morning Holiday Quiz

Happy Thursday, Coachella Valley! If you thought March 5th was just another day, think again. NBC Palm Springs weatherman Jerry Steffen is here to prove that the calendar is absolutely packed — and today's lineup of quirky national holidays is one for the books.

What Are We Celebrating Today?

National Potty Dance Day — Yes, it's a real holiday, and yes, you probably already know the moves. Today honors the wiggly, desperate little shimmy people (kids especially) do when nature is calling and a restroom is nowhere in sight. We've all been there. Jerry's been perfecting his technique since age two and claims he's still got it.

National Absinthe Day — On this date in 2007, the United States lifted a 95-year ban on the famously mysterious green spirit. For nearly a century, many believed absinthe caused hallucinations — turns out, it just had an exceptionally high alcohol content. The legend was bigger than the reality, but the holiday lives on.

Name Tag Day — A grassroots initiative encouraging people to wear name tags in public to spark conversations, ease social anxiety, and build community. And in true Jerry Steffen fashion, the name tag theme inspired today's entire pop quiz — both questions have a "name" connection.

🎯 Today's Pop Quiz — Can You Name That Name?

Jerry kept things name-themed for both brain-teasers. Think you know your indie pop hits and your prestige cinema? Test yourself — then watch the video to see how the control room scored!

1) An indie dance-pop song featuring the repeated refrain "that's not my name" became a UK chart-topper and cracked the US Top 40 in 2009. Which group recorded it?

  • A) The Linda Lindas

  • B) The Ting Tings

  • C) The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

2) The 2017 coming-of-age film Call Me By Your Name is set in 1980s Italy and follows a young man who falls in love with a university student staying with his family. The film launched the career of which actor?

  • A) Austin Butler

  • B) Glenn Powell

  • C) Timothée Chalamet

Think you know the answers? Watch the video above and find out how our morning crew did — and whether Jerry's rendition of that pop hit was as spot-on as he thinks it was.
