Cathedral City LGBT+ Days Kick Off With Rainbow Flag Raising, Drone Show, and David Archuleta Concert

Cathedral City’s annual LGBT+ Days celebration is officially underway, bringing a weekend full of pride, entertainment, and community events to the Coachella Valley.

NBC Palm Springs meteorologist Pablo Alsina joined former Cathedral City Mayor Nancy Ross during the kickoff festivities, where the weekend began with the ceremonial raising of the rainbow flag. Ross says the moment carries powerful meaning for the community.

“It says we support the rights of all people,” Ross said. “This is the best weekend of the year every year, and I’m having the time of my life.”

The celebration includes a variety of events taking place at the Cathedral City Amphitheater and throughout the city over the next several days. Highlights include a drone show lighting up the night sky, live performances, and family-friendly activities designed to bring the community together.

Ross says the festivities will wrap up with a major musical performance. Singer David Archuleta, known for his appearance on American Idol, will headline the weekend concert and serve as the event’s closing act.

Organizers say the celebration continues to grow each year and serves as a symbol of support, inclusion, and pride for the LGBTQ+ community in Cathedral City and across the Coachella Valley.

While the celebration is underway, Alsina also offered a quick look at the upcoming weather forecast. Temperatures are expected to remain in the comfortable 80s this weekend, though the valley could see highs nearing 99 degrees next week.

For now, organizers encourage residents and visitors to take advantage of the pleasant weather and enjoy the full schedule of events happening throughout Cathedral City.
